About the Position

As a Sound & Vision Supervisor youll hold a pivotal leadership role within our Senior Sound/Vision Team. This position supports the technical delivery training and development of our Sound/Vision operations with a particular focus on live visual display technologies (vision) production networking and training.

This is a highly versatile role ideal for someone who thrives equally in live production environments and technical project development. Youll contribute to productions and internal projects across our venues while actively supporting the growth and capability of our team from experienced crew to emerging talent.

This position works closely with the Manager Sound/Vision with responsibilities that include crew supervision operating sound and vision equipment technical vision systems development documentation and training delivery.

Variable time B ongoing position - approx. 28 hours per week. Band 3.2 $85347.00 p.a. (pro-rata) plus superannuation.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Operation & Design

  • Provide high-level programming and operation of sound and vision systems for in-house and visiting productions.
  • Assist the Manager Sound/Vision with design documentation and planning for the support of performances.
  • Support the continued development of procedures and standards across ACM venues.
  • Develop design and program Qlab sessions for performances along with other existing and emerging playback technologies.
  • Develop design and program production network systems for venue operations and productions.

Training & Mentorship

  • Support the growth of technical capability across the team through mentoring coaching and hands-on support.
  • Lead and assist in the training of staff includingplanning internal training and structured training.
  • Supervise plan and/or deliver the training for Trainees.

Team Leadership & Support

  • Supervise and lead Sound/Vision teams across pre-production bump-ins rehearsals performances and bump-outs.
  • Ensure work is carried out safely efficiently and in line with venue and production requirements.
  • Mentor casuals core staff trainees and new starters promoting a collaborative inclusive and safe working environment.

What Were Looking For

Were seeking a confident and self-motivated Sound/Vision Supervisor with:

  • 5 years professional Sound/Vision experience in large-scale theatre or venue-based environments and/or a Diploma /higher qualification.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and lead crews including training new staff and coordinating casuals.
  • Strong technical expertise in Qlab Vision and Networking systems.
  • Solid knowledge in vision systems design.
  • Experience in technical documentation creation.
  • Previous experience as a Senior Sound/Vision tech or similar technical role.

Desirable Attributes

We value versatility specialist knowledge and a broad understanding of live production environments. Preference will be given to candidates with:

  • Experience working across theatre orchestral music musicals and dance.
  • Self starter motivated and capable of making difficult decisions on the fly.
  • EWP under 11 meters is preferable.
