Job Summary

Overview of the Function

Finance operations ensures robust financial control and partners with functions across the firm to advise and influence strategic decision making that drives long-term profitable growth.

The core functions within Financial Controls focus on the record-to-report cycle and include transaction recording account reconciliation transaction financial and business performance reporting budgeting and data analysis

Role summary/purpose of job

The Junior Staff Accountant will be responsible for recording financial transactions month end financial reporting and account reconciliation.

Key responsibilities and deliverables

  • Follow the firms established accounting processes.
  • General ledger maintenance and review assigned accounts.
  • Prepare pre-close journal entries.
  • Maintain fixed asset register and depreciation schedule.
  • Maintain detailed reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.
  • Assist with annual audits and compliance audits by providing necessary support documentation.
  • Perform other assigned tasks and duties necessary to support the accounting team and stakeholders of the firm.
  • Coordinate efforts with the Global Finance team and proactively maintain a network and positive working relationships.
  • Other ad-hoc requests and projects as needed.

Key requirements (Communication/skills/experience)

Essential

  • This is a hybrid role requiring in office presence three days a week in Freshfields Raleigh office.
  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • 0-2 years experience as a staff accountant
  • Understanding of income statements balance sheets general ledger accounts receivable and accounts payable
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical abilities with a focus on accuracy and effectiveness while working independently.
  • Organized and flexible with an ability to meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to prioritize daily workload while simultaneously managing multiple deliverables.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel Word and Outlook.
  • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships across functions and geographies.
