A Day in the Life of an Exercise Physiologist I:
The Exercise Physiologist will perform patient care education and documentation. This position is responsible for overseeing the safety of the rehabilitation programs exercise components such as equipment orientation and exercise prescription and instruction.

Here Is What You Will Be Doing:
Completes intake assessments for new patients. Coordinates with multidisciplinary team on evaluation of new patients to determine treatment and exercise program. Creates and updates individualized treatment plans. Monitors outcomes and discharge plans. Provides education to patients and family members. Oversees exercise component of rehab program including exercise safety addition/replacement of equipment and training of staff leading individual and group exercise. Performs functional assessments body composition analysis and assessment of lower extremity abilities. Measures and monitors patient heart rhythm. Measures and monitors blood pressure and measures and monitors heart rate and oxygen levels. Provides clinical oversight of exercise for participants at all risk levels. Performs equipment orientation for participants. Completes exercise prescription for participants. Provides exercise instruction for participants. Performs nicotine cessation counseling on an individual inpatient basis and in a group setting. Supports local chapter of Mended Hearts by identifying and coordinating appropriate patient visits. Provides staff learning opportunities related to behavior modification stress management weight control etc. Presents exercise knowledge program information or recent research finding as professional meetings or conferences as requested. Assists in precepting student interns and new staff members. Participates in the development/implementation and revision of quality control process improvement and quality management.
Job Requirements:
Requires a Bachelors degree in Exercise Physiology Kinesiology Exercise Science Fitness Wellness or related field and at least 2 years of related Cardiac or Pulmonary Rehabilitation experience which must include some experience in the following skills: Measure and interpret vital signs including manual blood pressure oxygen saturation heart rate and EKG with appropriate intervention as necessary Exercise prescription and instruction for cardiac and pulmonary rehab patients; Electronic Medical Record review and documentation including reading and analysis of applicable test results; Patient monitoring and documentation using cardiac and pulmonary rehab patient monitoring system; Perform functional assessments including fall risk assessment functional capacity testing and scoring and interpretation of patient questionnaires; Develop and modify individualized treatment plans appropriate to each patient; and Provide and facilitate education for patients families and other staff through individual education group education and precepting.
Position requires Certification - ACSM Clinical Exercise Physiologist ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist OR AACVPR Certified Cardiac Rehab Professional.
