Unit Role:
The Operational Advantage Centre (OAC) provides independent support to all operational commanders capability sponsors and defence partners to enhance the effectiveness of audience and effects centric maritime operations by fusing threat understanding operational and performance analysis with doctrine targets techniques and procedures and ensuring effective learning.
The Maritime Operations Centre (MOC) is based in Northwood Headquarters with Commander Operations (COMOPS) being responsible for the day-to-day operational output of the Royal Navy. This includes conducting operational planning as part of the Plans Alliance that is campaign driven audience-centric effects based resource aware and aligned against the Operational Areas.
Position Role:
Planning coordination and direction of operational Information Operations (IO) and Information Activities (IA) on behalf of the OAC working in conjunction with MOC JE LO SO2. Provide maritime IO advice to operational theatres. Act in the capacity of OAC IA operational liaison into RN/CF subordinate HQs PJHQ MSE and Partners/Allies.
Responsibilities
As NAVY OAC JE SO2 IO your specific responsibilities are to:
- Provide IO expertise to the planning and execution of maritime operations.
- Act in the absence of SO1 JE as their deputy in respect to IO; representing JE at meetings and coordination events emanating from the OAC.
- Act as the OAC focal point for the coordination and integration of IO in current operations assisting MOC JE LO SO2 when required.
- Act as an IO SME during relevant target board and effects reviews including supporting the development of targets.
- Develop and maintain RN JE interactions with the Plans Alliance MOC PJHQ and MSE (and coalition and Allied partners when required)
- Support the OAC and wider RN JE organisations with the development of RN JE.
- Conduct other tasking as required in support of OAC JE.
- You are a Line Manager for X subordinates and appraisal responsibilities for X subordinates.
Annual Objectives
Objectives will be agreed annually with your Line Manager and updated in JPA accordingly.
