The Aurora R-VIII School District is currently accepting applications for a full-time K-2 functional skills special education teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. Knowledge of the special education process and providing specialized services for students are required. Lesson planning documentation planning for paras and communicating/collaborating with others is a must. Knowledge of behavior and communication interventions is needed as well. Managing a team of paras is also required. This person will need to have good communication skills with parents paras teachers and therapists. This person will be required to assist students with all bathroom needs including diaper changing toilet-training and other self-help tasks required as well as other personal care needs (i.e. feeding clothing etc.).
It would be beneficial for applicants to have certification in special education along with either elementary or early childhood. Aurora students attend school Monday-Thursday (4 days a week only).
Benefits include a Board-paid health insurance stipend and paid sick/personal leave days. There is a staff daycare available as well for those who wish to pay for childcare in the district.
