Job Title: Tool & Die Repair Technician - Casting & Trim Dies (Automotive Manufacturing)
Shift: 2nd Shift (3:00 PM - 11:00 PM) or 3rd Shift (11:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Tool & Die Repair Technician to support automotive manufacturing operations by repairing rebuilding and maintaining casting and trim dies to original specifications. This role requires strong hands-on expertise in die repair blueprint reading welding and troubleshooting complex tooling issues in a fast-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Repair rebuild and maintain casting and trim dies per original specifications
- Disassemble clean inspect repair and reassemble dies using cranes lift trucks and die cleaning equipment
- Build and replace die components (segments cores details trim punches) from blueprints
- Polish grind and finish die cavity surfaces to precise tolerances
- Perform welding repairs in the foundry and Die Repair Department
- Troubleshoot production tooling issues and perform corrective repairs on machines
- Remove stuck castings and correct dimensional issues while dies are mounted
- Complete die work orders documentation and sign-offs accurately
- Maintain a clean safe and organized work area
- Train and support new team members as needed
Required Qualifications (Must Have)
- 2 years of hands-on experience repairing and maintaining casting and trim dies OR willingness to complete up to 2 years of on-the-job training
- Strong ability to polish grind and finish die cavity surfaces
- Proficiency in blueprint reading precision measurement and machining concepts
- Ability to perform highly skilled mechanical and problem-solving tasks
- High school diploma or GED; trade school technical training or associate degree preferred
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
- Tool & Die Repair Journeyman Papers
- Automotive manufacturing experience
- Knowledge of metallurgy and CNC machine operation
