Mesa Associates Inc. is currently seeking an intern to assist with Civil/Structural Engineering & Design for its Knoxville or Chattanooga TN offices. The ideal candidate will be a Sophomore Junior or Senior Level Student at an Accredited University and working towards a BS in Civil or Structural Engineering. Prior experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation software is a plus but not required. The individual will be working with experienced engineers and/or designers in creating civil and structural drawing deliverables for power delivery substation this role you will help perform structural analysis and design of substation steel and concrete elements (transformer and equipment foundations control building foundations oil containment cable trenches support structures steel framing and switch rack design) prepare calculations and design deliverables and assist in developing construction drawings and specifications. You will apply relevant codes and standards (ASCE 7 ACI AISC NESC/IEEE as applicable) use industry software (e.g. RISA 3D SAP2000 AutoCAD MicroStation Revit) and gain experience by helping coordinate with internal project managers electrical engineers contractors and utility clients to support timely constructible designs.

Education/Experience:

• Sophomore Junior or Senior currently enrolled in an ABET accredited college/university pursuing a bachelors degree in engineering
• Candidates pursuing their masters in civil/structural engineering
• Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher
• 0-2 years. Previous internship is preferred but not required
