The candidate will have the opportunity to work within the Department of Law and engage with leading legal scholars in a friendly and informal academic environment. They will be able to build a strong professional network in the field of law participate in research projects related to climate and energy law and collaborate closely with United Nations environmental initiatives in particular with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). The position is fixed term with 18 hours per week for a period of 10 months. The start date is 1 February 2026 or as soon as possible.

The ideal candidate is expected to demonstrate strong research skills the ability to synthesize complex scientific and legal information an understanding of climate and environmental law and corporate law and governance with a masters in law and familiarity to combine law with other disciplines. He/she should be capable of supporting authors in preparing IPCC chapter materials coordinating inputs and ensuring accuracy and clarity in documentation. The candidate must be comfortable working in a multidisciplinary and multicultural legal and scientific setting while engaging with international experts and UN bodies. Strong communication skills professionalism in intercultural environments and an aptitude for collaborative work are essential.
Qualification requirements
Appointment as a research assistant requires academic qualifications at masters degree level.

An IPCC chapter team is an interdisciplinary group of scientists economists and legal and policy experts who collaboratively assess global climate research.
They work with international contributors and manage complex scientific inputs to produce rigorous assessment chapters.
In the Department of Law the candidate will join scholars specializing in international law with focus on climate.
