Paraprofessionals - Special Education

General education and special education staff work collaboratively to ensure access to the general education curriculum. Services are delivered in a variety of models including push-in small group 1:1 and pull-out emphasizingacademic skill developmentt including reading mathematics written language expressive/receptive communication problem-solving and organization.
Job Purpose
Under the direct supervision of certified staff members assist professional staff with students in the classroom to meet academic and social-emotional goals and objectives and implement positive behavioral supports.
Reports to:Building Principal and/or designee
Essential Job Functions
- Assist in classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing academicsocial-emotional and behavioral skills according to individual student needs.
- Assist with individual class and schoolwide positive behavioral supports to support a safe learning environment.
- Work with students individually and in small groups.
- Assist professional staff in data collection:academic behavioral and adaptive skills
- Assist students in non-instructional areas such as supervising the student lunch programs bus transitions passing time in the corridor and other related non-instructional areas.
- Accompany students on field trips for the purpose of assisting with supervision.
- Construct copy and distribute and use materials as needed.
- Assist teachers with parent contact as requested to foster effective and participatory parent involvement in student education.
- Participate in IEP process and serve as resource for the student evaluation team as needed.
- Follow all applicable safety rules procedures and regulations governing the proper manner of assistance for all students.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students employees and others.
- Ability to establish a supportive and compassionate relationship with students.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students staff and others contacted in the course of work.
- Effective writing and verbal communication skills.
Experience
- Prior experience working with students with disabilities with learning communication and emotionalneeds preferred.
- Data collection experience preferred.
- Safety care or CPI training preferred.
- Highly Qualified: 2 years of college credits or equivalent(ParaPro)
Salary Range: $32266 - $47397
