Role Specific Responsibilities Supports and communicates Laboratory initiatives and philosophies. Collects Processes and Receives specimens (including blood urine fecal body fluid) to be analyzed in all departments of the clinical laboratory (listed above). Evaluates and solves problems related to collection and processing of biological specimens of analysis of all age ranges. Participates in the evaluation of new techniques and procedures in the laboratory in terms of personnel equipment cost and establishment of reference intervals; writes and revises technical procedures. Performs complex laboratory procedures; recognizes deviation from expected results; analyzes and corrects problems using scientific principles. Analyzes quality control data makes judgments concerning results and takes appropriate action to maintain accuracy and precision. Answers inquiries regarding test results methodology test specificity and sensitivity and specific factors that influence test results. Reviews all instrument indicators and temperature monitors for laboratory departments Responsible for maintaining self-competency in laboratory skills. Education Bachelor s degree (or Associates Degree for grandfathered personnel) Licenses and Certification CLS or MT (ASCP) or equivalent New MT Graduate must pass certification exam within 6 months of employment start date
