Job Summary
The Sterile Processing Quality Control Technician is responsible for ensuring top-tier instrument cleanliness proper assembly and rigorous quality assurance throughout all sterile processing operations. This position blends hands-on technical processing with detailed inspection documentation and compliance work. The technician plays a key role in maintaining safety regulatory compliance and process excellence.
Job Responsibilities
Adhere to ANSI/AAMI standards manufacturer IFUs SOPs and internal Work Instructions.
Decontaminate used surgical instruments and equipment using proper PPE and approved protocols.
Disassemble clean and reassemble complex surgical instruments.
Accurately assemble and package instrument trays and sets.
Operate washers sterilizers and related equipment safely and effectively.
Inspect instruments for cleanliness functionality and damage prior to packaging.
Document missing or damaged instruments per established procedures.
Maintain accurate sterilization records tracking logs and inventory data.
Handle all instruments and customer-owned items carefully to prevent damage.
Perform daily computer-based tasks and required documentation.
Monitor and maintain inventory levels of instruments and supplies.
Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of sterilization equipment.
Keep workstations and decontamination areas clean organized and compliant.
Follow all quality standards and infection control procedures.
Communicate effectively with internal teams operations staff and distribution personnel.
Provide feedback and suggest workflow or process improvements.
Participate in training and maintain all required competencies and certifications.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Experience
Minimum 2 years of hands-on sterile processing experience (decontam assembly sterilization).
Strong attention to detail and quality-focused mindset.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team-oriented environment.
Knowledge of surgical instruments and sterile processing protocols.
Familiarity with sterilization techniques (steam sterilization infection control).
Understanding of ANSI/AAMI standards and IFUs.
Skilled in operating washer disinfectors autoclaves and related equipment.
Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
Ability to multitask prioritize and meet deadlines under pressure.
Ability to read and follow detailed work instructions and SOPs.
Basic computer proficiency and comfort using electronic tracking systems.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Willingness to complete required vaccinations and health screenings.
Team-oriented reliable and committed to continuous improvement.
