JOB PURPOSE
The Shipping & Receiving Forklift Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently loading and unloading inbound and outbound trucks ensuring that all lumber/building products are handled with care and in accordance with order specifications. This role maintains accurate shipping and receiving documentation follows UTD safety and operational standards and supports smooth yard operations by working collaboratively with team members and leadership.
JOB OVERVIEW
- Loading and unloading inbound and outbound trucks.
- This is a full-time position. Generally days and hours of work are Monday through Friday including some Saturdays from 5:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Weekly work schedules are shared in advance.
- This position is paid hourly and eligible for overtime pay.
- No travel is expected for this position.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Always adhere to yard rules of operation.
- Maintain and protect all property entrusted to you in excellent condition.
- Load and unload wood daily carefully while not damaging the wood.
- Load proper wood according to the order details and notes.
- Properly complete daily paperwork associated with loading and unloading trucks (half-pack sheets sign-off on loads and proper counts).
- Unload and tag wood properly on inbound loads.
- Meet production goals as set by Management.
- Operate machinery per UTD OSHA and product-specific standards.
- Attend daily pre-shift meetings.
- Communicate needs and issues directly to Team Lead.
- Complete all daily paperwork necessary to operate the equipment.
- Be on time and in compliance with the Company Handbook.
- Any other tasks assigned by the VP of Operations or Operations Manager.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED:
- Valid drivers license
- Forklift experience:
- Must have UTD forklift certification forklift permit or the ability to demonstrate safe handling of a forklift in an on-site test.
PREFERRED:
- Warehouse and/or manufacturing experience is preferred

- Attention to Detail: Ensure accuracy in handling loading unloading and labeling of products.
- Time Management: Efficiently manage workload to meet production goals and schedules.
- Teamwork and Communication: Communicate effectively with team members and provide support to ensure a productive work environment.

- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot issues related to equipment product handling and general production processes.
- Adaptability: Flexibility to adjust tasks based on changing operational needs and a willingness to take on various roles as assigned.

- Knowledge: of the UTD products.
- Knowledge: of OSHA state and federal rules and regulations and comply with them during daily functions.
WORK CONDITIONS
- Physical Activity: Requires prolonged sitting standing driving and exposure to forklift and machine vibrations. Physical activities also include climbing balancing stooping crouching crawling bending and walking.
- Material Handling: Must be capable of lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds including handling wood products tarping and strapping loads.
- Outdoor Work Conditions: Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions including extreme heat cold rain snow and humidity as well as being exposed to fumes and airborne particles.
- PPE Requirement: Wear required Personal Protective Equipment including safety glasses gloves earplugs and safety-toe boots in designated areas.
