Position Summary
As the Content & Social Media Specialist you will play a key role in implementing Discover Saskatoons marketing strategies by collaborating with creative agencies contractors and internal teams to execute high-quality content and social media initiatives. This role focuses on ensuring Saskatoons digital presence reflects campaign goals amplifies our storytelling and delivers measurable value to stakeholders and members.

You will oversee the development and use of Discover Saskatoons content library lead blogging efforts to capture community voices and ensure social media channels are aligned with agency-led campaigns. Your ability to collaborate and execute will be critical in driving engagement strengthening partnerships and showcasing Saskatoon as a destination of choice.

  • Content Implementation: Execute content strategies developed by Discover Saskatoons creative agency ensuring all materials align with campaign goals brand voice and storytelling standards.
  • Blogging & Storytelling: Lead blogging initiatives by developing original content and coordinating with community bloggers to authentically represent Saskatoons diverse voices.
  • Content Library Management: Maintain and organize the content library ensuring digital assets are catalogued accessible and optimized for campaign and partner use.
  • Photo & Video Production Support: Coordinate photo and video shoots by managing logistics timelines and creative alignment with brand and campaign objectives.
  • Content Alignment: Collaborate across the Marketing & Communications team to ensure content supports Discover Saskatoons business priorities industry objectives and stakeholder expectations
Social Media Implementation
  • Platform Execution: Implement organic and paid social media plans across all priority platforms ensuring messaging creative and cadence reflect seasonal priorities and nano-campaigns.
  • Community Management: Monitor social communities (Facebook Instagram TikTok LinkedIn YouTube) respond to inquiries and foster a positive engaging brand presence.
  • Influencer & Creator Coordination: Manage creator and influencer partnerships by coordinating deliverables timelines approvals and performance tracking.
  • Analytics & Insights: Analyze performance metrics and provide actionable insights to enhance reach engagement and audience growth across platforms.
  • Content Capture: Capture high-quality photos and short-form videos to support storytelling elevate brand representation and enhance digital engagement.
  • Scheduling & Publishing: Plan schedule and organize posts using tools such as Hootsuite to maintain consistent and strategic publishing across channels.
Campaign Support
  • Campaign Execution: Implement digital and social media components of Discover Saskatoons marketing campaigns in collaboration with creative agencies and internal teams.
  • Message Amplification: Ensure social media platforms accurately amplify key campaign messages and deliver measurable results that contribute to broader marketing goals.
  • Cross-Team Integration: Coordinate with internal departments to ensure campaign deliverables are aligned integrated and delivered on schedule. Support video production by managing schedules approvals and alignment with campaign messaging and creative direction.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Support
  • Partner Engagement: Build strong relationships with members partners and community content creators to support collaborative storytelling and campaign success.
  • Agency Liaison: Serve as a key connection point between Discover Saskatoon and agency partners to streamline workflows share updates and ensure brand consistency.
  • Brand Representation: Support agency-led initiatives by ensuring Discover Saskatoons brand voice tone and visual identity are consistently applied across all outputs.
Measurement & Reporting
  • Performance Tracking: Track analyze and report on social media metrics campaign outcomes and engagement indicators using digital analytics tools.
  • Insight Development: Use data to inform recommendations support optimization efforts and guide continuous improvement in content and social execution.
  • Trend Monitoring: Stay informed of digital social and content trends emerging platform features and best practices to support innovation and relevance in all content output.

  • Content Execution & Timeliness: Delivers assigned content pieces blogs social posts and campaign assets on schedule maintaining consistent adherence to publishing calendars and internal approval processes.
  • Brand Consistency & Storytelling Quality: Ensures all written visual and video content aligns with Discover Saskatoons brand guidelines and storytelling standards requiring no major revisions upon first review.
  • Social Media Performance Contribution: Demonstrates measurable contribution to engagement and growth metrics (reach impressions engagement rate follower growth video performance) supporting targets set in the annual business plan.
  • Content Library Management: Maintains an organized up-to-date content library with accurate tagging and accessibility ensuring all new campaign assets are uploaded and properly catalogued.
  • Community Management & Responsiveness: Monitors and responds to online community interactions within established service expectations maintaining a positive consistent and engaging brand presence.
  • Influencer & Creator Coordination: Manages creator and influencer deliverables approvals and timelines with accuracy ensuring content aligns with campaign goals and is delivered on schedule.
  • Campaign Alignment & Amplification: Implements social media components of marketing campaigns with consistency and accuracy ensuring messaging and creative assets are correctly represented and contribute to campaign outcomes.
  • Reporting & Insight Development: Provides accurate (95%) performance summaries and actionable insights that support content optimization GEO readiness and continuous improvement in social execution.
Toolset
  • Social Media Platforms: Proficient in managing Facebook Instagram TikTok LinkedIn and YouTube including posting engagement community management and analytics.
  • Content Creation Tools: Skilled in Canva and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator Photoshop Premiere) to create high-quality visual and multimedia content.
  • Scheduling & Management Tools: Experienced with Hootsuite or similar platforms to plan schedule and monitor multi-channel content.
  • Analytics & Reporting Tools: Ability to use platform-native analytics Google Analytics and reporting dashboards to track performance and generate insights.
  • Photography & Videography: Comfortable capturing high-quality photos and short-form videos for digital storytelling and campaign execution.

Qualifications
  • Education: Post-secondary education in marketing communications digital media journalism public relations or a related field.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in content creation social media implementation digital marketing or community management.
  • Content Creative Skills: Proven ability to produce high-quality written visual and short-form video content for multi-channel use.
  • Industry Knowledge (Asset): Understanding of tourism destination marketing events or hospitality is considered an advantage.
  • Mobility: Ability to travel within Saskatoon and surrounding area for content capture events and stakeholder meetings as needed.
