ABOUT US
University Arms is a 192-bedroom design-led Hotel situated in the heart of Cambridge United Kingdom. Overlooking Parkers Piece is the Hotels quintessentially British Restaurant and Bar Parkers Tavern Library Lounge and beautiful 272 square metre wood panelled Ballroom.
Opened in 1834 as a Coaching Inn University Arms is Cambridges oldest Hotel. For 180 years the Hotel was added to updated and modernised in line with the age; however it was the reopening in 2018 after a four-year 80m full renovation that really positioned the Hotel. It is now Cambridges go to destination alluring visitors with the promise of a sense of modern luxury.
WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING
As Commis Pastry Chef you will support the Pastry Chef and wider kitchen brigade. This is an exciting opportunity for a budding pastry chef eager to develop their craft in a creative supportive and professional environment.
THE DUTIES
- Prepare bake and present pastry and dessert items to the highest standards
- Support high-volume production for afternoon teas & deserts
- Maintain pastry quality portion control and consistency
- Ensure all food produced meets hygiene safety and allergen standards
- Assist with stock control ordering and inventory management
- Collaborate with the wider kitchen team to ensure smooth service
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR IN YOU
- A genuine passion for pastry and a desire to grow within the culinary field
- Experience in a professional kitchen or pastry environment (hotel or restaurant preferred)
- Strong attention to detail creativity and pride in your work
- Positive attitude willingness to learn and ability to work under pressure
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts including weekends and evenings

RIGHT TO WORK:
In line with the requirements of UK immigration legislation all applicants must be eligible to live and work in the UK. Documentary evidence of eligibility to work will be required from candidates as part of the recruitment process.
PAY:
12.24 per hour plus 1.60 per hour Tronc 13.84 per hour Equivalent to 30586.40 per annum
