Warm Valley Health Care is seeking a dedicated Optometry Technician to join our Optometry/Eye Care Services team. This role supports the Optometrist in delivering high-quality culturally responsive eye care to patients of the Wind River Reservation. The ideal candidate is patient-centered detail-oriented and committed to serving our community with professionalism and respect.
Key Responsibilities
Greet patients and obtain accurate medical and ocular histories.
Perform clinical testing including visual acuity autorefraction tonometry lensometry keratometry visual field testing OCT fundus photography and corneal topography.
Assist with contact lens fittings training and ordering.
Provide patient education on eye health treatments and contact lens care.
Document all procedures and findings in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
Support referrals care coordination and follow-up for specialty services.
Maintain exam rooms equipment and clinical supplies.
Participate in community outreach such as school screenings and health fairs.
Adhere to HIPAA OSHA and infection control standards.
Qualifications
Required
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience in healthcare optometry ophthalmology or related clinical support.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with cultural sensitivity.
Computer proficiency and familiarity with EHR systems and diagnostic equipment.
Ability to work collaboratively and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred
Certified Paraoptometric (CPO) or higher.
Two years of optometry or ophthalmology experience.
Experience working in Native health or with tribal communities.
Bilingual skills (English and a Native language spoken on the Wind River Reservation).
Work Environment
Outpatient clinical setting.
Frequent standing walking and bending; ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
Full-time schedule with occasional evenings or weekends for outreach.
