Job Summary
This is a Community Service Work Study student employment position. Applicants must have Federal Work Study funds in their Financial Aid package. Student cannot earn more than $2000 in this position. In4All utilizes hands-on learning experiences to generate excitement around STEM education in todays students. Through partnerships between local businesses and schools our organization is able to successfully develop community and reignite the passion for STEM in students as young as 4th grade. We aim to show students that opportunities are wide open for them in the future by having career professionals in the classroom who guide them through fun learning activities. Our organization focuses on working with schools and students that are underrepresented and experience additional challenges based on systemic issues. We imagine an Oregon where industry and education share the responsibility and benefits for engaging students. Our work focuses on supporting students who experience barriers rooted in issues of race class gender disability sexual orientation and other historically marginalizing factors to create a future of limitless possibilities. At In4All we value: Equity inclusion and access for all students Collaboration between schools businesses and individuals to create community Shared responsibilities and benefits of expanding student success The youth voices that are impacted and benefit from our programs Appreciation and responsiveness to diversity in the community The importance of measuring and responding to the impact we have in the community The STEM Connect program partners with industry partners and local schools to promote interest in STEM for 4th and 5th grade students in the Greater Portland Metro Area. The program consists of 4 visits that are designed to cultivate interest in STEM through hands-on learning activities facilitated by co-learners (participants from our industry partners). Our Design Thinking program takes high school students through the design thinking process by focusing on a user centered problem solving approach. The majority of our Seasonal Program Assistants will work with STEM Connect students. This opportunity would not exceed 10 hours a week and hours worked per week are flexible. Minimum Qualifications
Must have Federal Work Study Funds in Financial Aid package (contact with questions) We are looking for candidates who are curious responsible and observant Must be an undergraduate student Weekday availability Must be able to work during the school day (between the hours of 8:00 am 4:00 pm Monday Friday) A strong background or interest in youth education Experience working with elementary age children or youth Must have an interest in social justice Must be able to pass a background check Must have access to a reliable mode of transportation
