Vice President Transportation
Westwood Professional Services Inc.
The Vice President Transportation will lead Westwoods Transportation market sector overseeing the following sub-markets: aviation bridges roadway traffic engineering bus & bus rapid transit rail (freight commuter) tunnel design and other related public infrastructure services. This leader will guide market strategy financial performance project delivery and team development across transportation-focused disciplines. The Vice President Transportation will manage key client relationships follow major pursuits and guide staff development while ensuring Westwood values are met. The role emphasizes client satisfaction technical excellence and strategic expansion aligned with the Public Infrastructure Division.
Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic & Market Leadership
- Develop and execute transportation business strategies aligned with the broader Public Infrastructure Division.
- Identify emerging markets funding opportunities and regulatory trends impacting transportation programs.
- Expand service offerings and geographic reach in collaboration with Division and Corporate leadership.
Operational & Financial Management
- Manage P&L for the Transportation sector including budgeting forecasting and financial performance.
- Oversee project delivery to ensure quality risk mitigation and adherence to scope schedule and budget.
- Implement operational best practices workflow efficiencies and resource optimization across teams.
Business Development & Client Management
- Lead major pursuit strategies proposal development and capture planning for key transportation clients.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with DOTs municipalities counties and federal agencies.
- Represent Westwood at industry conferences technical committees and public-sector forums
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and mentor a team of project managers discipline leads and technical professionals across transportation engineering disciplines.
- Support recruitment retention skills development and succession planning for the transportation team.
- Foster a culture of innovation accountability safety and continuous improvement.
Collaboration & Enterprise Alignment
- Coordinate with other Westwood divisions (Land Power Renewables Program Management and Corporate Services) to pursue cross-market opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with licensure engineering standards quality management systems and corporate policies.
Required Experience
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or related field required; Masters degree preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred (multistate licensure preferred).
- Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in transportation engineering planning or construction; 5 years in a leadership or business-unit management role.
- Demonstrated experience with DOT programs municipal transportation and large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Strong business and financial acumen including previous P&L or major program management experience.
- Excellent leadership communication and client-facing capabilities.
- Strong understanding of transportation funding programs including federal state and regional mobility initiatives.
