Job Summary

Do you want to be part of a team that is committed to developing hope and nurturing the lives of our community members Do you have an experience in healthcare administration public health social worker or occupational therapy The Mustard Seed is seeking aRecovery Supervisorwho would be responsible for guiding and managing the day-to-day operations of the recovery team and supporting the interdisciplinary team members as needed.

Reporting to the Health and Wellness Manager the Recovery Supervisor is a member of a multidisciplinary team on a recovery transitional housing program. The Recovery Supervisor will utilize leadership skills to develop and guide transitional housing recovery. The program will be based on a sober recovery model with intakes taking place on a rolling basis. The program will focus on building skills understanding of trauma and social connection and development of relapse prevention strategies. This will be coupled with transitional housing supports which will focus on building recovery capital in multiple areas such as skills for independent living financial literacy employment and connection to long-term/post-program community-based supports such as mental and physical health ongoing recovery programs social and recreation programs cultural supports and others. The Recovery Supervisor is responsible for guiding and managing the day-to-day operations of the Recovery Team and supporting the interdisciplinary team members as needed.

In addition to the core supervisory duties and responsibilities the Recovery Supervisor will provide direct advocacy support services to clients ensuring their goals are addressed through the appropriate referrals and system navigation.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Educate and empower clients in the recovery program to understand and achieve their rights and responsibilities as participating members of society;
  • Liaise with internal and external resources to help clients increase their recovery capital including maintaining existing partnerships and developing new ones;
  • Advocate for clients to access resources within and outside the organization;
  • Ensure clients have accessed external resources by completing follow-ups with clients and agencies;
  • Support the facilitation of programming as necessary;
  • Document client interactions referrals and progress on the Client Care and Management system (CCMS) and the clinics electronic medical record (EMR) system;
  • Provide crisis intervention as needed;
  • Provide input into program evaluation upon request;
  • Offer training opportunities for staff to help them assist clients in addressing their substance dependency;
  • Assist the Health and Wellness Manager with new initiatives or projects as required;
  • Provide leadership and support to the Recovery Team;
  • Ensure reports are completed within assigned timelines;
  • Collaborate with the Health and Wellness Manager to maintain develop and evaluate Health and Wellness policies related to the Recovery Team;
  • Ensure the tracking of statistics within the Recovery Team is completed as required;
  • Provide collaboration consultation and support to additional teams such as Resident Engagement and Property Management;
  • Ensure coverage on the floor and manage scheduling.

      Administration

      • Build a comprehensive library and knowledge base on community resources;
      • Share and disseminate community resource information;
      • Track assigned clients progress with external resources;
      • Communicate relevant information to Caseworkers about interactions with clients and observed behavior;
      • Document client interactions client referrals and client progress on AVA Electronic Medical Record (EMR) EMR;
      • Track statistics and prepare reports as required;
      • Attend meetings and training as assigned;
      • Serve on internal and external committees as requested;
      • Provide input into the development of policies and procedures for designated programs;
      • Keep clients records and information confidential updated and secure.


      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

      • A minimum of an undergraduate degree in healthcare administration public health social worker occupational therapy nursing or a related field is required;
      • Masters degree in a related field is considered an asset;
      • Competent in use of MS Office;
      • Excellent interpersonal skills;
      • Excellent administrative time management and organizational skills;
      • Self-motivated and ability to work independently;
      • Strong knowledge of Calgarys community mental health and addiction resources with proven ability to navigate these systems effectively;
      • Knowledge of FOIP and ability to observe confidentiality standards A self-starter with the ability to work in a cross-functional team & accomplish goals;
      • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office Programs); experience with Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) an asset;
      • Strong organizational time management and advocacy skills;
      • Excellent written oral and interpersonal skills;
      • Possession of a valid Drivers License (Class 5) and a clean drivers abstract.


      WORKING CONDITIONS

      • Employees are to be aware that many of our clients may experience difficulties or impairment at times which could result in them uttering threats discriminatory statements and other insults at your person. This may in a raised voice or in seeing unpredictable behaviour up to and including the possibility of them becoming aggressive
        • Training on how to respond is provided but this is to be considered typical working conditions. Many of our clients areunaware of the impact of these comments.
      • Time in excess of regular working hours may be required on occasion.
      • The working environment for this position requires moderate amounts of walking standing sitting and daily interactions with colleagues and guests.
      • Fast paced and demanding work environment.
      • Moderate to extreme mental effort required to respond to highly intense situations.


      ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

      • An Employment Background Check is required for all positions at The Mustard Seed.
      • Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
      • This position requires the use of a company vehicle for company use. The candidate must have a valid drivers licence and will need to consent to a drivers abstract request.
