Remuneration - 70698 (point 1) to 82040 (point 9).
Annual Leave - As per Health Service Executive (HSE)

PURPOSE OF THE POST
- The Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist will provide advanced clinical knowledge and expertise in rheumatology and will work in collaboration with the Occupational Therapy Manager in planning developing co-ordinating and evaluating the service to meet the needs of the service users and the strategic objectives of the organisation.
- The Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist will be responsible for the provision and delivery of a high-quality evidence based patient focused Occupational Therapy service in the designated clinical area(s) and will carry out clinical educational and administrative duties as required. The interdisciplinary team provides individualised and group-based programmes designed to lessen the impact of impairment and promote self-management. The inpatient service is designed around a two-week elective self- management programme. The outpatient service delivers IA OA IBP and persistent pain programmes.
- The Clinical Specialist will work as part of an interdisciplinary team supporting patients with varying rheumatic and musculoskeletal disease presentations and needs.
In addition the Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist:
- Serves as a leader in service improvement and development
- Develops and implements clinical evidence-based practice research and audit
- Provides expert guidance/consultation to other occupational therapists students and healthcare professionals vis education supervision and training to ensure they have the required skills and knowledge to deliver evidence based safe and effective practice.
POINT ON SALARY SCALE
- New appointees coming from the private sector will be placed on the minimum point of the scale.
- Clinical and Therapy Grades: Incremental credit may be applied for recognised relevant service in Ireland and abroad (Department of Health Circular 2/2011) in the Civil Service local authorities public service health service and other public service bodies and statutory agencies.
