Job Summary

Job Responsibilities

Supervises the organization training and daily work activities of Classification caseworkers.
Serves as a member of the Institutional Classification Committee to determine recommendations for assignments and classification of inmates.
Coordinates and supervises a weekly institutional orientation program.
Interviews inmates discusses and records progress made on a periodic basis.
Receives/reviews inmate requests for custody changes job/program assignment and sentence explanation.
Responds orally and/or through written correspondence to inquiries of information by departmental officials and other agencies.
Serves as a member of various institutional and departmental committees.

Must successfully complete four (4) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A bachelors degree and related experience.

SCDC Minimum Requirements:

A bachelors degree and one (1) year of inmate classification experience.

An associate degree and two (2) years of inmate classification experience.

A high school diploma and four (4) years of inmate classification experience.
