Our Sustainable Agriculture team is expanding and were seeking a passionate and motivated Grazing Field Officer to join a dynamic diverse team working to improve the productivity and profitability of the grazing industry.

This role will work directly with graziers across the Burdekin Dry Tropics NRM region to support the adoption of grazing practices that improve land condition and enhance the quality of water flowing to the Great Barrier Reef.

Your key responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • develop and maintain relationships with grazing landholders to promote sustainable management of land and water resources;
  • contribute to the development and implementation of integrated NRM projects as a part of an interdisciplinary team and with external specialists
  • help organise and deliver targeted training and education activities that provide graziers with additional skills and capabilities to implement sustainable management practices;
  • work with graziers to adopt sustainable land management practices and where appropriate develop applications for incentives to support practice change;
  • work with graziers to ensure incentive projects are completed and outcomes are achieved within agreed timeframes; and
  • monitor evaluate and report on progress of incentives and activities against milestones budgets and project and resources condition outcomes.

Role requirements

  • Formal qualifications or demonstrated experience and skills in project management including stakeholder engagement project planning and reporting and risk management.
  • A current C Class manual drivers licence and the ability to travel extensively within the Burdekin Dry Tropics region. This may include travel outside standard working hours and occasional overnight stays.
  • Current HLTDAID011 Provide First Aid and HLTAID009 CPR or the ability to obtain certificates
  • RIIVEH305F Operate and maintain a four-wheel drive vehicle or the ability to obtain.
