The Group Work and Training (GWT) team facilitates learning and community engagement opportunities for professionals and community members through the delivery of training and group work sessions across various subject areas.
- For professionals training focuses on developing approaches to practice for those working in social work/human services.
- For community members training focuses on capacity-building work with individuals and families in order to support them in achieving their goals and/or working towards sustainable change.
- Group work focuses on providing community engagement opportunities for individuals and families via events and groups towards social inclusion and building resilience.
Subject areas include but are not limited to early years development and parenting mental health domestic and family violence child protection and people living with a disability. Facilitated courses may include Circle of Security The Shark Cage Nurtured Hearts Approach Parents Under Pressure Bringing Up Great Kids Tuning into Kids Strength-Based Approach etc.
The Resource Worker GWT will promote develop and deliver training and group work activities as identified based on demand/need across the regions that the organisation services.
This position will be expected to travel across organisational sites as required to meet the duties of the role. Initially this role will primarily focus on developing the organisations presence in the Moreton Bay and Sunshine Coast regions with some coverage required for Brisbane where needs are identified.
Hours of Work
The successful applicant will be required to work part-time hours across a four-day week (60h 48m per fortnight). The successful applicant is also expected to have the capacity to work flexible hours to meet the requirements of the position including some out-of-hours (evening and weekend) work when required.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications & Training
- Tertiary qualification (bachelors degree or higher) in human services and/or another relevant field.
Skills Knowledge & Experience
- Experience in the development and/or facilitation of training group work activities and community events.
- The ability to build networks and community connections towards achieving effective progressive outcomes.
- Strong communication interpersonal and organisational skills including an ability to work autonomously or as part of a team and adapt to various circumstances as necessary to support the organisation.
- Understanding of and commitment to the principles of social justice as well as a demonstrated capacity to work in ways that focus on peoples strengths.
- Intermediate to advanced computer literacy skills including familiarity with Microsoft 365 Office Suite.
History Checks & Clearances
The successful applicant will be required to apply for certain mandatory Personal and Criminal History Checks. This position is required to hold a current/satisfactory/positive result for the following:
- Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
- LCS2 (Personal and Criminal History Check)
- Open drivers license (Queensland).
Note it is an offence for a disqualified person to sign off on a Blue Card application form.
Desirable
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
- Accreditation to facilitate relevant training in one or more of the following areas: early years development and parenting mental health domestic and family violence child protection and people living with a disability e.g. Circle of Security Shark Cage Nurtured Hearts Approach etc.
- A strong understanding of early childhood development and related principles including the Early Years Learning Framework.
