An opportunity has arisen to join our Image Process and AI Engineering team the Systems Engineering group working on the research design and development of innovative technical solutions that meet customer requirements and business needs.

The role will involve leading the development of models of launcher and DEW (sub)systems throughout the product lifecycle for:

  • Solution concepting
  • Subsystem trade studies
  • Platform-related AI/ML development and implementation
  • Performance prediction and trials analysis

The successful candidate will be expected to work in the image process and AI model development activities for a set of products or solutions alongside developing and mentoring other team members. They will have significant specialist knowledge in AI/ML techniques and/or DEW systems alongside knowledge of the other areas below:

  • Matlab/Mathworks toolset
  • Python and AI/ML libraries e.g. Pytorch Tensorflow
  • Object Detection Tracking and Classification
  • Moving platform dynamics
  • Control and stabilisation
  • Remote sensors and data latency
  • Network communications
  • Algorithm implementation
  • Real time simulation

Skills qualifications or experience:

  • A relevant degree in an engineering discipline or significant commensurate experience
  • Experience of development and validation of AI/ML algorithms preferably in an industrial context
  • Robust analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to analyse complex information and develop solutions on time and on budget
  • Self-motivated and capable of working on your own initiative
  • Interested in emerging technologies relevant to the business
  • Experience of mentoring/skills development
  • Good verbal written and technical presentation skills
  • Membership of relevant professional body
