Director Technology, Platforms, & Ops

The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location ranging from: $168000 - $210000

Job Summary:

The Director Technology Platforms & Ops (TPO) is a strategic leader responsible for managing and optimizing the organizations technology infrastructure. This role oversees the design implementation and maintenance of IT systems data center (storage and compute) cloud environments IT security and disaster recovery services. This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams both internal and within IT and Business teams to ensure efficient reliable and secure technology solutions aligned with Avangrid business objectives. This role plays a pivotal role in shaping the organizations technology landscape ensuring reliability security and scalability.

The Director Technology Platforms & Ops reports into the Vice President of Technology Services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversees the design deployment and operations for IT Technologies including Database SAP Basis Cloud Computing Storage Backup Virtualization and On-Prem datacenter.

• Oversees the design deployment and maintenance of infrastructure including cloud and data centers. Manage server environments storage systems and virtualization platforms.

• Ensures high availability disaster recovery and business continuity.

• Evaluates and implements cloud-based solutions in an environment to optimize infrastructure.

• Develops hybrid multi-cloud cloud strategies that balance on-premises and cloud resources (AWS Azure Nutanix).

• Develops leads and operates GEN AI Avangrid Center of Competence.

• Collaborates with Avangrid Corporate Security Global Security Office to ensure compliance with security policy and full integration of Security in all technology towers. Responsible for the execution and operation of Avangrid Corporate Security Program.

• Leads modernization and security initiatives by defining and directing technology programs managing life cycles driving automation and ensuring continuous transformation across all technology domains.

• Manages project portfolios and develops and executes long-term infrastructure strategy that is aligned with organizations goals.

• Evaluates existing infrastructure identify areas for improvement and plan for future scalability.

• Stays informed about industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation.

• Works closely with the business to perform needs analysis and create synergies between the various business functions and IT.

• Develops and manages the IT TPO budget including defining controlling and executing capital and operational Budget and implementing continuous transformation and efficiency programs to enhance resource maximization.

• Leads a team of highly technical skilled IT professionals in all technology areas. Fosters a collaborative and innovative work environment. Provides mentorship coaching and professional development opportunities.

• Responsible for IT Technology vendor management. Works closely with vendors and service providers to negotiate contracts monitor service levels and manage relationships.

• Champions best practices in a high-volume dynamic environment. Ensures the enterprise has the capability to support new technology and maintain high levels of service. Creates a sustainable compliant IT environment to facilitate growth including ITIL SOX and NERC/CIP compliance.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Systems or a related field and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

• Possesses a strong technical mindset with comprehensive knowledge of managed technologies including Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure software-defined storage Citrix thin-client architecture and hyperscale cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure and AWS.

• Excellent communication negotiation and project management skills.

• Demonstrated history of exceptional customer service.

• Strong history of managing complex efforts with demanding customers.

• Strong background managing IT technology in a multinational company.

• Working knowledge of the regulatory environment for utility companies including NERC CIP and SOX requirements.

• Strong experience managing budget in a utility regulated environment.

• Strong leadership and communication skills.

• Highly developed ability to resolve complex problems and negotiate successful outcomes.

• Ability to build effective relationships with key stakeholders.

• Strong business orientation and presentation skills.

• Strong process improvement and continuous transformation skills.

• Understanding and experience developing IT operations based on ITIL.

• Proven ability to work in a complex environment with many competing priorities and stakeholder demands.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Masters degree.
