About the Role
The Supply Chain Specialist will assist in planning and scheduling for the manufacturing environment. Responsible for maintaining systematic requirements in the most timely and efficient manner while considering current inventory customer requirements resource capacities and process development. Daily communications with customer service supply chain procurement and plant operations to ensure efficient and optimal plant production meet the needs of our customers.
What Youll Do:
- Review capacities and develop both short- and long-term capacity plans establishing and adjusting schedule dates and relative priorities for work orders; adjust lot sizes when necessary to meet manufacturing requirements and constraints.
- Revise existing production schedules and processes to ensure timeliness regarding scheduling issues inventory levels order allocations and proper capacity and material planning
- Provide exception-based information to internal departments to allow for adjustments to procurement outside services and operations to achieve committed delivery times
- Foster drive and promote communication with area managers promoting proactive attention to issues of concern
- Utilize historical order and shipment data current trends trade inventory data capacity and forecast information to develop the best possible demand plans for new and existing products
- Key success factors for this position would include improving run strategy that will be evidenced by decreasing changeovers optimizing available uptime related to scheduling while maintaining targeted days of finished goods and raw material inventory service levels and inventory quality
- Provide root cause analysis and problem solving to the supply chain organization
- Review system requirements and create manufacturing work orders daily in a timely manner
- Inventory transactions as required to support the daily operations
- Conduct cycle count and physical inventories as required
- Exhibit a working knowledge of health and safety responsible for safety awareness while upholding and improving the culture of safety within the organization. Identify opportunities for improvement and take action if appropriate before a problem occurs. Report potential hazards unsafe working conditions unsafe equipment unsafe acts and injuries immediately
- Other tasks as assigned
Requirements
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain Management or related field preferred
- CSCP background or training (certification desired)
- Additional APICS training plus
- 2-4 years work experience employing Supply Chain principles and use of ERP systems in a manufacturing environment
- Background in scheduling and production planning
- Demonstrated experience with Sales and Operations Planning implementation
Skills and Competencies:
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications (Word Excel Power Point)
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills; must have ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions
- Strong organizational skills ability to set priorities and meet deadlines; proactive
- Team player with excellent verbal written and interpersonal communications skills
- Highly motivated with the ability to work independently within a dynamic fast paced work environment
- Must be able to work on multiple projects while maintaining a high level of detail and accuracy
- Ability to focus on multiple tasks and accomplish them regardless of obstacles with proven and favorable outcomes
- Experience with driving business process improvement initiatives
