Our National Security Solutions team is actively seeking an experienced Senior Manager Business Development to drive growth and capture new contract opportunities with Department of War and military space customers including the U.S. Space Force and related agencies. You will develop and execute strategies tailored to defense and military space clients leveraging deep industry relationships and market intelligence. Youll collaborate with technical program and executive teams to shape solutions that address mission-critical needs ensure compliance and maximize win probability.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Development Strategy
- Develop long-term strategies to drive business growth in Department of War and military space sectors.
- Drive entry into new mission areas and emerging markets within National Security Space.
Capture Management
- Manage multiple capture efforts in various stages for award within 18 months
- Lead capture efforts for federal contracts including $100M opportunities in defense and space.
- Oversee the development and submission of compliant compelling proposals for federal and defense contracts.
- Develop capture artifacts such as win themes proof points past performance candidate identification proposal resource requirement identification B&P budget capture snapshot and milestone reviews.
Customer & Industry Relationships
- Develop and maintain strong customer relationships to identify objectives priorities and requirements and align company capabilities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key government customers prime contractors and industry partners (large and small businesses).
- Foster customer intimacy and proactively identify unmet needs within target agencies.
Pipeline & Reporting
- Maintain an accurate growth pipeline and leverage Salesforce for pipeline reporting.
- Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on business development activities and progress.
Competitive Intelligence & Analysis
- Conduct competitive analysis and develop effective win strategies.
- Analyze market data federal budget trends and competitor activities to inform business strategies.
- Write compelling RFI responses and demonstrate solid business acumen in all capture pursuit decisions.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure all business development activities and proposals comply with federal acquisition regulations (FAR/DFARS) and internal policies.
- Assess and mitigate risks associated with contract opportunities and business pursuits.
Acquisition & Solution Development
- Participate in the identification of potential acquisition targets.
- Collaborate with technical teams to shape solutions that address customer mission requirements and maximize win probability.
- Support the development of innovative approaches and differentiated offerings for military space and defense customers.
Communication
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders including technical and program teams.
Required Qualifications:
- Security clearance requirement: Active TOP SECRET security clearance required
- Minimum 20 years of experience including 10 years of industry experience and 10 years of experience in business development capture management or government contracting with a proven track record in the defense and military space sectors.
- Bachelors degree in Business Administration Engineering or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Deep understanding of federal acquisition regulations (FAR/DFARS) government procurement processes and contract types (IDIQ GWAC OTA etc.).
- Experience leading complex capture efforts and proposal submissions for DoD Department of War or military space customers.
- Strong negotiation relationship management and presentation skills.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams and lead cross-functional initiatives.
- Experience with CRM software (e.g. Salesforce) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent analytical problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active TS/SCI security clearance
Work Environment:
- Location: Candidates living near Colorado Springs CO or Los Angeles CA are preferred but other locations will be considered
- Travel Requirements: Moderate 2040%

Scheduled Weekly Hours:
Basic Compensation:
- $202000.00 - $304000.00 (This range is for the Colorado area only).
- $222000.00 - $332000.00 (This range is for the California area only).
The offered rate will be based on the selected candidates knowledge skills abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
Additional Compensation:
KBR may offer bonuses commissions or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus relocation benefits short term incentives long term incentives or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
