- Provides legal advice and assistance to attorneys throughout all phases of litigation including early dismissal trial and post-trial motions.
- Reviews lower court records and related documents for appellate matters.
- Monitors appellate dockets and deadlines.
- Conducts legal research and analyzes case law to draft persuasive appellate briefs and motions.
- Presents oral arguments before appellate courts and justices.
- Assists trial counsel in issue framing at trial and record preservation for potential appeals.
- Advises trial counsel and claims specialists on writ petitions.
- Prepares pleadings and supports litigation teams in trial and arbitration.
- Develops creative strategies for pleadings and motions.
- Coordinates with claims specialists and attorneys on law and motion strategies.
- Attends court appearances and argues motions.
- Ensures compliance with Defense Attorney Guidelines.
- Performs other legal duties as needed.
Requirements:
- Licensed to practice law in California.
- J.D. degree required.
- Strong computer and online legal research skills.
- Excellent legal writing and drafting skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Experience with trial and appellate court motion practice preferably in medical malpractice defense.
