Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of individuals recovering from traumatic brain injury (TBI) acquired brain injury (ABI) and spinal cord injuries NeuLife Rehabilitation of Florida Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Persons Served Advocacy & Authorization Specialist who will serve as a champion for our persons served throughout their rehabilitation journey.
Position Summary:
The Person Served Advocacy & Authorization Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring seamless access to rehabilitation services for persons served with traumatic brain injury (TBI) acquired brain injury (ABI) and spinal cord injuries. This position combines insurance expertise with passionate advocacy supporting individuals throughout their rehabilitation journey while maintaining operational excellence at NeuLife Rehabilitation of Florida Inc.
Key Responsibilities:
Insurance & Authorization Management:
- Process and manage medical authorizations for NeuLifes rehabilitation services
- Conduct peer-to-peer communications with insurance providers and medical directors
- Track authorization status and maintain detailed documentation
- Appeal denied claims and advocate for coverage approvals
- Collaborate with billing and clinical teams to ensure proper authorization requirements
Advocacy for Persons Served:
- Serve as a dedicated advocate for NeuLife persons served with TBI ABI and spinal cord injuries
- Navigate insurance barriers and work to secure necessary rehabilitation services
- Communicate with persons served and families regarding authorization status and next steps
- Coordinate with case managers social workers and clinical teams
Clinical Documentation Support:
- Review therapy notes and clinical documentation for accuracy and completeness
- Ensure documentation supports medical necessity for continued care at NeuLife
- Assist with treatment plan reviews and progress tracking
Credentialing Support:
- Assist with provider credentialing applications and renewals
- Maintain credentialing files and track expiration dates
- Support onboarding of new clinical staff at NeuLife
Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate records and authorization tracking systems for persons served
- Generate reports for National Admissions Director and executive leadership
- Participate in team meetings and quality improvement initiatives
Reporting Structure:
- Direct Reports to: National Admissions Director
- Collaborates closely with: Chief Operating Officer (COO)
- Cross-functional partnerships: Clinical teams billing department case management
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelors degree preferred)
- Minimum 2-3 years experience in medical insurance authorizations
- Strong knowledge of insurance processes CPT codes and medical terminology
- Experience with rehabilitation services or neurological conditions preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic health records
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
