Overview

The Physical Therapy Assistant provides physical therapy services under the direction of the Physical Therapist and according to the physicians plan of care. This is a PRN position.

Otterbein Home Health compliments already strong independent senior services outpatient capabilities and clinical facilities at Otterbein.

This position travels locally throughout the greater Lebanon Ohio area (Lebanon Middletown Springboro Dayton and part of Cincinnati) providing patient services in a Home Health care setting.

Shift: PRN

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct physical therapy treatments according to directions of the physical therapist and in accordance with the physicians plan of care.
  • Treats patients to relieve pain develop or restore function and maintain maximum performance.
  • Directs and aids patients in active and passive therapeutic exercises muscle reeducation gait and functional training transfer activities and prosthetic training.
  • Utilizes physical agents including but not be limited to heat cold water light electricity ultrasound and massage.
  • Observes and reports to the physical therapist and the organization personnel the patients reaction to treatment and any changes in patients condition.
  • Instructs patients in care and use of wheelchairs braces crutches canes and prosthetic or orthotic devices.
  • Maintains necessary records; clinical notes and conference notes which will be incorporated into the patients clinical record in prescribed time frames.

Qualifications

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited physical therapy assistant program with either an associates degree in science or applied science that is approved by American Physical Therapy Association Inc.
  • Licensure/Certification: Possesses and maintains current CPR certification
  • Must be a licensed driver with an automobile in good working condition and have automobile insurance in accordance with Ohio laws.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1-year clinical experience as a Physical Therapy Assistant in-home health or community health/hospice preferred.
  • Must maintain a professional attitude and demeanor and be able to communicate effectively and relate courteously and cooperatively with patients caregivers colleagues supervisors co-workers and all others.
  • Must be able to demonstrate optimism enthusiasm and willingness to work with other health care team members and reflect concern for the wellbeing on patients and employees.
  • Visual/hearing ability must be sufficient to comprehend written/verbal communication.
  • Demonstrates good written and verbal communication skills.
  • The Physical Therapy Assistant must have ability sufficient to ambulate throughout a patients home navigating stairs and other physical barriers typical to private residences
