Job Title: Campus Safety Assitant
Reports to: Chief of Police
Department/Campus: Police Department
Purpose: Support district police officers provide security and protection for students staff and visitors to Santa Fe ISD.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Clear and valid Texas drivers license
Special Knowldege/Skills:
Experience:
- One year of security law enforcement or corrections experience
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Promote lawful behavior and protect the welfare of students faculty and staff as a uniformed presence on campus.
- Perform metal detector screening process.
- Remains alert for the presence of unauthorized persons approach suspicious personand/ornotifiespolice asappropriate may confront and/or detain violators as required of until policearrives.
- Perform video surveillance tomonitorbehavior secure buildings and property investigate disturbancesmaintainorder during events and enforce regulations.
- Assistthe professional staff police and emergency personnel in handling emergencies or disruptive situations.
- Reports suspicious behavior security breaches facility and safety hazards emergency situations and unlawful activities to the police dispatcher and district police officers.
- Provides traffic direction and control and foot and vehicle patrons as assigned.
- Maintain radio communication with department personnel.
- Write andsubmitincident reports asappropriate.
- Must continuallydemonstratea high levelof mental stability and professionalism.
- Handle sensitive information in a discreet and professional manner bymaintainingconfidentiality
- Assist with the Campus Safety & Security Audit Process.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief of Police or hisdesignee.
- Always maintain positive customer services attitude with the community co-workers and supervisors.

Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment; P.E. teachers: automated external defibrillator (AED)
Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting bending/stooping pushing/pulling and twisting
Motion: Frequent walking
Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment
Environment: Work inside may work outside; regular exposure to noise
Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours
