Job Duties

The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) Office of Addiction Recovery and Wellness Supports is seeking a motivated individual to fulfill the role and job duties as the Addiction and Recovery Specialty Coordinator. This position provides statewide guidance in the planning expansion development implementation and oversight of a comprehensive system of problem gambling treatment and recovery support services to include coordinating a network of service providers and partners promoting evidence-based practices to address gambling disorders and other co-occurring disorders. This position also provides technical consultation on complex matters related to problem gambling treatment and recovery and serves as a resource guide for treatment and recovery professionals and community stakeholders. This position is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with various stakeholders to enhance the states continuum of care for problem gambling addition this position manages and monitors contracts for problem gambling treatment and recovery services ensuring compliance with funding state regulations.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of addictive disorders treatment theories recovery processes with an understanding of the relationship between problem gambling and substance use disorders.
Experience in program coordination or management of behavioral health programs.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders.
Proficiency in data collection analysis and report preparation.

Additional Considerations

Bachelors Degree in human services or related field.
Certified Substance Abuse Counselor
Certification as a problem gambling counselor (e.g. International Certified Gambling Counselor) or eligibility to become certified within one year of hire.
Knowledge of gaming regulations and policies within VA.
Knowledge of the personal impact emotions and day-to-day realities of addiction and the recovery process.
