General Duties and Responsibilities
- Promote and uphold The McWane Way principles values and behaviors.
- Adhere to safety protocols outline in the Tyler Union Safety Management Program.
- Assist supervisors and managers in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Follow ergonomic and safe lifting techniques.
- Perform daily equipment inspections and report any issues.
Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned.)
- Read and follow standard operating procedures to determine product specifications.
- Operate tools such as band saws abrasive saws sand grinders belt grinders or portable pneumatic grinding tools.
- Inspect products to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Monitor equipment for malfunctions and report issues.
- Use hand tools including hammers cold chisels and files.
- Count finished products to verify order completion.
- Mark or tag parts for identification.
- Operate and/or load the blast cleaning machine.
- Place finished work in the designated container and dispose of scrap appropriately.
- Clean and lubricate equipment.
- Record production data such as quantities meter readings or production times.

Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma/GED certificate preferred.
- Minimum one (1) year of related experience preferred.
- Foundry or heavy manufacturing experience preferred.
Skills
- Proficient in using grinders saws or other finishing tools.
- Understanding of ductile iron and how it responds to grinding and finishing processes.
- Ability to examine parts for defects and ensure they meet specifications.
- Ability to perform daily safety inspections and identify mechanical issues.
Physical & Cognitive Abilities
- Frequent standing walking bending and lifting.
- Manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination.
- Strength and stamina for lifting 50 pounds repetitively.
- Visual and auditory acuity.
- Ability to work in high-temperature high-humidity environments.
- Comfortable working around dust fumes and moving machinery.
- Capable of wearing required PPE including respirators.
