Under general direction the Compliance Manager Elevators manages compliance work for a unit responsible for the inspection of equipment and devices including passenger freight and sidewalk elevators escalators dumbwaiters wheelchair lifts conveyers personal hoists and amusement devices for conformance to codes rules laws plans or specifications.
The Compliance Manager Elevators is responsible for:
-Reviewing and providing recommendations for extensions associated with vertical transportation compliance reporting.
-Performing review of applications for installation major upgrades alterations modernizations repairs replacements and testing of equipment and devices including passenger freight and sidewalk elevators escalators dumbwaiters wheelchair lifts conveyers personal hoists and amusement device as needed.
-Maintaining and developing Unit Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
-Assisting with quality assurance compliance of unit SOPs and verification/reporting of required QA/GPS inspector reports as needed.
-Conducting and developing code and operational training as well as introducing new technology.
-Managing interagency inspections technical matters and meetings.
-Managing and performing emergency response inspections as required.
-Reviewing and researching vertical transportation projects for code compliance.
-Generating maintaining and reviewing accident incident and inspection reports.
-Providing code and operational recommendations regarding industry related matters.
-Interacting with the industry to ensure consistent and transparent inspection procedures and checklists.
-Working closely with administrative staff and providing technical support to update and maintain Unit database information.
-Managing and tracking unit sweeps and audits.
-Maintaining excellent customer service by monitoring the quality and timeliness of the professional responsiveness by staff to customers; via phone email and correspondence inquiries.
-Collaborating on technical and operational issues with other Department of Buildings Units.
-Other tasks as directed by the Director Elevators Inspections.
NOTE ON MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Experience to meet the minimum qualification requirements (MQRs) must be in mechanical systems such as designing planning developing implementing inspecting analyzing and testing of vertical transportation devices and related equipment.
ADM INSPECTOR (BUILDINGS) NM - 1007A
Qualifications :
1. Seven years of full-time satisfactory experience working at a construction trade or working as an inspector of construction hoists and rigging plumbing boilers or elevators; at least 18 months of which must have been in a managerial or administrative capacity; or
2. At least two years of experience as described in 1 above at least 18 months of which must have been in a managerial or administrative capacity and a license as a professional engineer or registered architect issued pursuant to the education law; or
and/or experience which is equivalent to 1 above. All candidates must have at least 2 years of experience as described in 1 above at least 18 months of which must have been in a managerial or administrative capacity. One year of experience will be credited for each year of apprenticeship in the construction trades or building inspection up to a maximum of three years of the general experience. Education towards a degree in architecture architectural technology construction management engineering engineering technology or a related field from an accredited college or university will be credited on the basis of 30 credits for one year of experience up to a maximum of four years of the general experience. One year of experience will be credited for each year of formal training or education in a field of study relevant to the construction trades up to a maximum of two years of the general experience.
