Job Duties
This position assists the Deputy Clerks of the Case Administration and Records Administration divisions of the Clerks Office of the Court of Appeals of Virginia.
The Case Administration team is the Courts main contact with the public. This team processes all incoming filings answers many questions for pro se litigants and attorneys and serves those individuals who wish to examine records file pleadings pay filing fees and obtain copies of documents.
The Records Administration team processes the receipt and return of trial court records from across the Commonwealth. This team provides critical support in receiving trial court records preparing this Courts records for transmittal to the Supreme Court of Virginia and U.S. District Courts and returning records and certifying orders to Virginia trial courts upon completion of appeals.
As a senior-level assistant this position not only serves the Deputy Clerks of the respective divisions but also provides guidance to other staff members of the Clerks Office regarding proper handling of pleadings and records in addition to drafting and issuing correspondence to attorneys and litigants.

Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must be a high school graduate or possess the equivalent degree must provide references must work well with colleagues and the public and must be reliable organized and conscientious. Applicants must demonstrate advanced word processing experience a history of prompt and accurate completion of assignments experience in dealing with a high volume of work and the ability to meet deadlines. The most competitive candidates will have at least two years of experience in a law office or court setting.
