  • TRANSPORTATION ROUTER/PLANNER

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Minimum two years successful experience working in transportation service industry preferably in pupil transportation
    2. Successful experience in supervision of school transportation program desirable
    3. Ability to effectively plan schedule coordinate and create school bus routes to provide efficient transportation for regular and special education students
    4. Ability to work effectively with staff students and public; ability to use independent judgment and respond effectively during emergencies
    5. Knowledge of computer operations and data base management; ability to learn computer software systems designed for pupil transportation
    6. Ability to coordinate variety of transportation needs and assignments simultaneously in clear and concise manner
    7. Ability to communicate effectively with cross-section of people on professional and personal basis
    8. Ability to follow oral and written directions; ability to organize and prepare reports and statistical data
    9. Possession of valid school bus driver certificate desired
    10. Willingness and ability to work flexible schedules

    REPORTS TO: Administrator as assigned

    SUPERVISES: Staff as assigned

    JOB GOAL: To provide safe and efficient transportation services for District students and develop transportation routes and schedules within District guidelines. To provide dispatch as necessary and to provide direction to drivers as assigned.

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Develops and maintains computerized database of school bus routing and scheduling information; generates schedule and route information to provide to staff Education center schools and parents
    2. Assists in computing and analyzing expenses related to pupil transportation; develops and uses routing procedures to assure efficient transportation of students
    3. Coordinates school bus transportation for special needs students with special education staff and school site personnel
    4. Coordinates with transportation personnel for coverage of after-school programs activity trips and field trips
    5. Assists in organizing and conducting inservice training for drivers and monitors
    6. Keeps records and prepares required reports
    7. Evaluates staff as assigned
    8. Assists with dispatching and scheduling as needed
    9. Models personal and professional values integrity caring collaboration personal and collective accountability
    10. Performs other related duties as required

    SALARY $27.42- $40.53per hour

    EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the Districts Improvement of Professional Services Handbook Board Policies and Procedures and consistent with collective bargaining agreements when applicable

    NEW PROBATIONARY EMPLOYEES AND PERMANENT EMPLOYEES WHO BECOME PROBATIONARY UPON RECLASSIFICATION:
    A new employee or a permanent employee who is changed to a new classification shall serve a probationary period which shall not exceed one (1) year of duty time exclusive of leaves of absence or other absences. During this probationary period the employee must meet the required standards of performance to be recommended for permanent status in the classification. A probationary classified service employee may be terminated from the probationary classification at any time without cause without right of appeal or hearing before the Board of Education. Pursuant to Education Code section 45113 a permanent employee who accepts a promotion and fails to complete the probationary period for that promotional position shall be employed in the classification from which he or she was promoted.

    Some positions may require proof of privately owned automobile insurance and the possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle operators license. Fingerprint clearance by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met. Must present verification of completion of Child Abuse Mandated Reporter training or obtain verification within six (6) weeks of hire and annually thereafter as required by the California Child Abuse Neglect Reporting Act.
