The Department of Animal Science in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time post-doctoral research position to work under the supervision of Dr. Jason Ross. This position is specifically designed to provide research effort in the area of sow physiology during the transition period aiming to better understand the factors contributing to production efficiency losses in the U.S. sow herd.
Responsibilities of this position include leading research activities literature review publication of existing data and generation of new data. The successful candidate will have a unique focus on the physiology of postpartum dysgalactia and other factors compromising the sows successful transition from gestation to lactation.
PhD
Experience in performing field research and data collection focused on sows in the U.S. production system.
Experience soliciting research funds through industry gifts and/or contracts.
Evidence of research scholarship as indicated by the publication of peer-reviewed journal articles.
