At Rolls-Royce an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior NDE (Non-Destructive Evaluation) Engineer within Primary Components Operations (PCO) Non-Destructive Evaluation Engineering in Derby.

PCO manufactures components that form part of the Submarine Propulsion Plant which are subjected to a variety of NDE this role you will focus on gaining manufacturing capability and the introduction of new products into PCO for the manufacture of Dreadnought NSRP (Nuclear Steam Raising Plant) and continued support for Astute NSRP.

You will need to be an enthusiastic team-oriented individual with a passion to succeed and a vision of how modern manufacturing should be achieved within a constantly changing environment.

An aptitude to learn rapidly will be a necessity and an ability to communicate effectively at all levels on complex technical projects needs to be demonstrated.

Our nuclear business is a leader in propulsion system design and development for the Royal Navys nuclear submarine fleet and the sole provider and technical authority managing all aspects of plant design safety manufacture performance and through-life support.

As a minimum were all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons on average three days per week.

What you will be doing:

• Developing and reviewing NDE procedures (Ultrasonic Radiography Dye Penetrant Eddy Current and Magnetic particles) required for the inspection of product in manufacture.
• Supporting training and coaching in the office and shop floor to ensure inspection standards are met.
• Ensuring customer and business requirements for Safety Quality Cost and Delivery are met as well as compliance to design intent.
• Support shop floor inspections where applicable.

Basic and preferred qualifications

Essential:

• PCN Level 2 UT Phased Array MPI and DPI.
• PCN Level 3 Ultrasonic Testing.
• Experience in Advanced UT techniques.
• Experience in deployment of Automated Ultrasonic Testing techniques.
• Work experience in an NDE role in similar industry preferably Nuclear.
• Ability to plan lead your own technical projects and work with an experienced engineering team.
• Good team working skills with a focus on coaching and delivery.
• Professionally Qualified Engineer (e.g. UK minimum HND/foundation degree or other national equivalent).
• Recognised national or international engineering accreditation (e.g. UK IEng or CEng) where available.

Desirable:

• PCN Level 2 or 3 in Eddy Currents.
• PCN Level 3 in Liquid Penetrant
• PCN Level 3 in Magnetic Particle
