A well-established independent senior school in Reading is seeking a PE Teacher to begin a full-time role in January 2026. The school welcomes applications from both experienced teachers and new entrants with strong coaching backgrounds.
School Information
This independent day school educates 900 pupils aged 1118 and is highly regarded for its academic achievements pastoral ethos and strong co-curricular programme. Situated near the centre of Reading it offers excellent transport connections for staff across Berkshire and the Thames Valley.
The PE department benefits from sports halls a newly resurfaced athletics track netball courts astroturf pitches a gymnasium and first-class strength and conditioning facilities. The schools teams regularly compete in regional leagues and national tournaments.
Students enjoy a varied curriculum including invasion games dance gymnastics athletics swimming fitness training and sports leadership.
Experience and Qualifications
Degree in Sport Science PE or a related field
Teaching qualification preferred though independent schools may appoint unqualified teachers with strong coaching expertise
Ability to teach PE from KS3 to KS5
Experience in team coaching or specialist sports is highly desirable
Enthusiasm for extra-curricular sport fixtures and competitions
Salary
Salary is paid on the independent school scale above MPS/UPS.
