Position Summary
The PCB Assembly Engineer is responsible for developing optimizing and supporting all processes related to printed circuit board (PCB) assembly including SMT through-hole hand soldering reflow profiling inspection and testing. This role ensures high-quality production supports NPI builds reduces defects and improves manufacturing yields through data-driven process improvements and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
New Product Introduction (NPI)
- Review PCB design files (Gerber ODB) BOMs assembly drawings and DFM feedback with design teams.
- Plan and execute prototype builds ensuring assembly readiness and communicating risks.
Production Support
- Provide real-time engineering support to SMT and assembly lines for troubleshooting process.
- Support day-to-day manufacturing operations to meet production and quality targets.
Documentation
- Create and maintain process instructions.
- Prepare engineering change notices (ECNs) and support configuration management.
Process Development & Optimization
- Develop and optimize SMT Wave coating and testing assembly processes solder paste selection.
- Define and improve assembly workflows process parameters and quality control checkpoints.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to increase throughput reduce cycle time and improve first-pass yield.
