City of Newcastle has an exciting opportunity for a high school student to gain hands-on experience in a trade or business area while completing their secondary education

This opportunity will see you be part of our Building Trade Services Team. Being part of this team will give you insight and exposure to our City Infrastructure directorate and the extensive projects and assets the City of Newcastle is responsible for managing and maintaining.

During your Apprentice or Traineeship will see yourself providing assistance to tradespeople and staff with general tasks learning safe work practices and contributing to the maintenance and improvement of Council assets.

At completion of your time with CN you will gain a nationally recognised qualification such as a Certificate II or III depending on the discipline.

This is an identified position and applicants must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent. Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under Section 14 of the NSW Anti-Discrimination Act 1977. Successful applicants may be required to provide Confirmation of Aboriginality.

Remuneration: From $37856.48 17.5% annual leave loading yearly payment 12% Superannuation per annum for a 35-hour week
