Job Summary

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced professional to join our Residential Care Services team in Barwon. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing the delivery of highquality traumainformed care for children and young people while supervising and supporting residential care staff and house supervisors.

Working closely with the Area Manager you will manage placement referrals liaise with the Department of Families Fairness and Housing and ensure statutory requirements are met in line with Victorias Looking After Children framework. The role involves leading the implementation of therapeutic programs maintaining strong family and community connections for young people and embedding the Sanctuary model across the service.

You will also oversee staff recruitment training and performance manage budgets and property maintenance and contribute to service development and policy review. This is a fulltime opportunity to lead a dedicated team influence service delivery and make a lasting difference in the lives of vulnerable children and young people while working within a supportive organisation committed to best practice and professional growth.

This is a fulltime opportunity based throughout the Barwon region within our Out of Home Care Program. This position reports to the Regional Coordinator.

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications such as a Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent or significant experience in child welfare practice.
  • Demonstrated experience in child protection residential care or related fields.
  • Strong knowledge of traumainformed practice and contemporary child welfare frameworks.
  • Proven leadership and staff supervision skills.
  • Welldeveloped assessment organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders including government and community service organisations.
  • A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and awareness of issues faced by Aboriginal children young people and families.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of MacKillop Family Services.

Requirements

  • Valid and Current Drivers Licence
  • Valid and Current Workers with Childrens Check
  • Valid and Current NDIS Workers Screeners Check
  • Satisfactory Criminal History Check
  • A Certificate IV in Child Youth and Family Intervention (Residential and Out of Home Care) or a relevant qualification accompanied by the relevant skill set.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children young people and their families.
