Overview
The Speech Language Pathologist I will provide direct patient care for assessing and treating communication (i.e. speech/language) oral motor and feeding/swallowing disorders: administering department and program functions; supervising speech language pathologist at various levels: maintaining documentation relative to services offered: and participating in intra and interdisciplinary training programs.
Responsibilities
- Provide functional communication (i.e. speech/language) oral motor and feeding/swallowing assessment or treatment with consideration to patients and families needs and interest.
- Supervise graduate students.
- Maintain documentation consistent with Institute and Department expectations for all activities as well as guidelines by The Joint Commission CARF and ASHA.
- Participate in intra-disciplinary and interdisciplinary activities relative to patient care (e.g. team conferences) and professional training (e.g. staff development activities).
- Maintain appropriate professional affiliations for state and national licensure/certification as well as following standards set forth by the Institute and the Program.
- Participate in departmental activities and outreach activities in the community (e.g. presentations service on committees).
- Assist supervisor in setting and implementing goals for professional growth and development.
Qualifications
- Masters degree in Speech Language Pathology with related clinical requirements.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology granted by the American Speech Language and Hearing Association.
- Eligible for Maryland State Licensure in Speech Language Pathology.
- Must have experience working with children who have severe communication disorders experience working with children with autism spectrum disorders is preferred.
