Job Summary

The City of Lenexa Police Department is looking for an Integrated Services Technician to work out of the Integrated Services Unit.

Position Summary

This civilian position requires general to advanced work in the installation repair and maintenance of a wide variety of City-owned electrical electronic electromechanical mechanical equipment and fixtures with specialized focus on video security systems and access control networks. The position is responsible for tasks relating to Desktop support IP hardware installation Radio system programming the maintenance of physical plant and facilities operated by the Police Department.

Essential Functions Duties and Responsibilities

  • Installs maintains and repairs electrical electronic radio computer electromechanical mechanical equipment and fixtures including video security systems and access control networks.
  • Tests analyzes and troubleshoots systems on premises as well as operates and drives City-owned vehicles for testing and diagnosing equipment at remote and tower sites as needed for various department and/or City functions.
  • Maintains existing video and security systems via updates and enhancements; troubleshoots unexpected issues with existing systems.
  • Maintains appropriate repair records and service literature files for all affected work and equipment including inventory control.
  • Researches and assists with special projects associated with new video security systems and general technical equipment installations.
  • Educates and guides end-users for optimal usage of systems and provides technical support.
  • Required to drive a vehicle to include City-owned vehicles to off-site training courses meetings job sites and/or other City facilities.
  • Drives City and/or personal vehicle to perform essential functions of position.

Qualifications

  • Must have one of the following:
    • High school diploma or G.E.D. plus 3-4 years of technical repair and equipment maintenance experience
    • Technical or trade school plus 2-3 years of technical repair and equipment maintenance experience
    • Associates degree in equivalent or related field plus 1-2 years of technical repair and equipment maintenance experience
    • Any combination of education and experience that provides the requisite knowledge skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position
  • Valid drivers license required upon hire

Work Environment and Physical Factors

This position requires the strength and agility to lift and move objects up to 50 lbs. frequently and move 150 lbs. occasionally. Position requires mobility to work outdoors and in confined spaces; the ability to crawl climb twist balance stoop/bend kneel squat push/pull work in cramped and/or confined spaces vehicle trunks etc.; the ability to move over difficult terrain; exposure to inclement weather; the ability to work in extreme weather conditions the ability to work safely in hazardous situations and the visual acuity to inspect work and make changes.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation range for this position is $25.13 to $29.14 per hour dependent upon qualifications and previous experience. The City offers a comprehensive benefits package including:
