About CEL
Community Empowerment Lab (CEL) is a globally recognised institution working to transform maternal and newborn health by uniting science with compassion. We are developing a research-to-scale pipeline to power Indias efforts towards single-digit neonatal mortality by 2030. This pipeline spans across epidemiological studies deep-sensing formative research to understand drivers of behaviours and practices development and evaluation of promising interventions and co-designing solutions with stakeholders to take proven interventions to scale. This initiative is envisaged as a constantly learning and evolving system with the Data Analytics & Decision Science Unit as its central nervous system converting raw field data into clarity foresight and lifesaving action.
Your Role
We are looking for an exceptional leader to establish and anchor CELs Data Analytics & Decision Science Unit. This role is for someone who wants their analytical talent to change the life of every newborn and mother in India and the world.
You will:
Lead and nurture a small team of analysts and statisticians
Architect real-time health intelligence systems
Identify leading indicators of newborn and maternal risk healthcare quality etc. Consolidate data from available sources to inform priorities and actions at the state and district levels
Collaborate with internal and external teams of scientists stakeholders and policy makers to interpret data and shape action
Support real-time data needs of ongoing research and programs
Design and nurture a culture of truthfulness curiosity and learning
Who You Are
You may come from a public health background with a Masters or PhD in Statistics data science statistics economics systems engineering epidemiology or Bachelors degree in a quantitative field with significant applied statistical / data science experience - any field that has trained your mind to see patterns and craft solutions.
We are open to diverse profiles but expect:
A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a leadership or direct people management role with a clear track record of delivery
Strong grounding in statistics (regression causal inference sample size risk modelling) and statistical tools such as R & Python
Experience analysing large messy datasets
Experience leading teams
Ability to build simple actionable decision tools
In tune with developments in AI
Excellent written and verbal communication
A genuine desire to work on maternalnewborn health
Bonus: Experience in health systems RCTs geospatial analysis behavioural economics systems dynamics and modelling.
