  • Temporary opportunity up to June 2026
  • Full-time at 35 hours per week plus FlexTime
  • Located in Parramatta or other NSW office location by negotiation with hybrid working supported
  • Salary relative to experience and ranges from $129464 to $142665 plus super

The Water Group leads the NSW Government in providing confidence to communities and stakeholders with the transparent stewardship of water resources provision of services and reforms that support sustainable and healthy environments economies and societies across NSW.

Our Strategy and Policy team are seeking to appoint a Senior Economist to provide economic analysis and modelling to support evidence-based decision making and funding submissions for water planning and management in NSW.

About You

You are an analytical thinker with a strong foundation in economic principles and financial modelling. Your experience in economic analysis enables you to deliver clear evidence-based insights that inform policy planning and management decisions. You have an appreciation of the key issues impacting the NSW water sector and ideally experience in regulatory economics and pricing frameworks.

You excel at applying rigorous economic and financial methods to complex challenges including the preparation of regulatory submissions. Communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences is one of your strengths and you take pride in providing advice that is both clear and actionable.

Collaboration is central to your leadership approach building strong relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders to achieve shared goals. Your ability to combine technical expertise with stakeholder engagement makes you a trusted advisor in shaping sustainable water policy and pricing outcomes.

Essential Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in economics finance statistics or similar discipline and/or equivalent experience.
