The Department of Natural Resources Support Services Divisionis recruiting for an Accountant 5 in Juneau.


This position is open to Alaska Residents only.

What You Will Be Doing:

This position serves as the Department Finance Officer overseeing operations in accounts payable accounts receivable cost accounts for grants and reimbursable service agreements teams.


Duties and responsibilities include analyzing interpreting and reporting financial data; modifying accounting systems; establishing internal controls; analyzing costs; and providing financial oversight and supervision of agency accounting functions.


This position serves as one of the departments primary ALDER experts report developers and trainers.


This position works with a staff of 14; the fourteen positions serve as the departments financial services team.


The team is responsible for setting policy direction supervising and managing the departments financial aspects including operating and capital budgets.

We are looking for a candidate who possesses the following position-specific competencies.

  • Principles of Accounting: Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles standards and practices (for example double entry accounting accrual accounting) including the full accounting cycle and the preparation of work sheets financial statements ledgers and journals.
  • Stakeholder Management: Knowledge of the concepts practices and techniques used to identify engage influence and monitor relationships with individuals and groups connected to a work effort; including those actively involved those who exert influence over the process and its results and those who have a vested interest in the outcome (positive or negative).

  • Technical Credibility: Understands and appropriately applies principles procedures requirements regulations and policies related to specialized expertise.

Any combination of preparatory post-secondary education and/or progressively responsible professional level experience in accounting budgeting or financial management.
