Title: Junior Environmental Scientist

Whats the Opportunity
Anchor QEA is seeking a full-time junior level scientist primarily to support work in and near San Diego and Irvine California. The successful candidate will have a natural affinity for science have the capacity to grow be a quick learner be detail-orientated be a committed team player possess strong written and verbal communication skills and be experienced with working in the marine environment. This position will support environmental science planning and engineering projects involving short and long-term monitoring programs for water sediment and biological resource quality; contaminated sediment and dredged material evaluations; stormwater monitoring; and source control investigations.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities for the position will include the following:
- Maintenance and calibration of field equipment and instrumentation.
- Maintenance of vehicles and vessels
- Organization of field sampling supplies and warehouse space
- Field sampling and analysis at upland and in-water project sites which may include water quality monitoring sediment and soil sampling and marine mammal monitoring
- Compilation and management of environmental data
- Qualitative and quantitative analysis of environmental data
- Technical writing to support the preparation of sampling and analysis plans data deliverables and monitoring reports
What Are We Looking For
Ideal candidates will have the following:
- BS or MS degree in relevant field (e.g. environmental science biology geology)
- 0-3 years of related experience
- Self-starter with ability to work independently or collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications
- Critical thinking and strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Reliable transportation and ability to commute to project locations in and near San Diego and Irvine California
- Strong commitment to health and safety and technical excellence
- CPR First Aid AED and OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certifications required; will be provided by Anchor QEA if these certifications have not been obtained
- Small boat handling skills including trailering launching and retrieval are a plus
- Willingness to travel during temporary field assignments

- Salary Range: $71610-$79700
- Annual Bonus

Base Level Benefits for Regular Full-Time Positions:
