Nature of Work

Thefundamental reason this classification exists is to support and assist the Directorof Maintenance in the planning coordination and direction of activities at theMaintenance Department. The AssistantDirector performs administrative duties and oversees the daily operations of maintenanceservices including assisting the Director with developing short and long rangeplans supervising personnel preparing and administering the departmentsbudget receiving and handling complaints and requests and directing staffactivities. The Assistant Directorreports directly to the Director and is responsible for the department in theabsence of the Director.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelorsdegree in civil engineering public administration business administration ora closely related field and three years of supervisory and administrativeexperience at the level of a division head in public works.

NOTE:Qualifying education training and experience that provide therequisite knowledge skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.

Special Requirements

Must be willing to work nights weekends and holidays and willing to be on call to respond to emergency incidents as needed.
