Job Summary

Lecturer (Chemical Engineering)

  • A Teaching and Research role in Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics and Unit Operations.
  • Full-time appointment on a fixed term basis for three years.
  • Base salary range: Level B $118150 $139812 p.a. (pro-rata) plus 17% superannuation.

About the area

The School of Engineering is a multidisciplinary school offering education and research in anumber of engineering disciplines including biomedical civil environmental mining chemicalmechanical electrical and electronic and automation robotics. The School of Engineering hasan established and dedicated team of teaching and research academics providingundergraduate and post-graduate programmes across multiple engineering disciplines. Inresearch the School also spans a wide range of engineering disciplines with groups oftencomprising transdisciplinary researchers who work with industry to produce outcomes withimpact.

The Department of Chemical Engineering has a strong track record in Energy. It hosts the Centre for Energy and enjoys a strong link to the Future Energy Exports Cooperative Research Centre (FEnEx CRC). It is also one of the Western nodes for the ARC Centre of Excellence for Carbon Science and Innovation. The Department also enjoys a strong track record in commercialisation having spun off Hazer Group Ltd. Gas Capture Technologies Ablano Pty. Ltd. and Jovian Tech Pty. Ltd. Another key feature of the Department is its strong links to the Chemical Engineering Industry with its operation and practice being strongly informed by its active and well-represented Industry Advisory Panel.

About the opportunity

  • Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics and Unit Operations with strong capability in Aspen HYSYS process simulation.
  • A high-impact research role aligned to the Departments thermodynamics priorities with desirable expertise in experimental cryogenic thermodynamics and a strong focus on industry collaboration.
  • Actively contribute to the School and University through student supervision curriculum development governance professional engagement and service.

About you

  • A Bachelor (preferably Master) Degree in Chemical Engineering and a PhD in Chemical Engineering or closely related field.
  • Demonstrated willingness and ability to deliver innovative teaching at the undergraduate and/or postgraduate level in Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics and Unit Operations.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering authentic assessment opportunities in coursework units informed by industry-sponsored research or consulting activities where possible/practical.
  • A demonstrable emerging track record of successful competitive funding application.
  • Demonstrated evidence of successful supervision or co-supervision of HDR students relative to opportunity.
  • Demonstrated ability to positively contribute to the school and wider University activities such as graduations open days school meetings strategic planning outreach/community engagement and program development.
