Job Summary

The Avionics/Electronics Technician II performs maintenance including but not limited to inspection test and repair of aircraft avionic/electronic components in an avionics bench repair environment in accordance with company and FAA-approved manuals and methods. Performs repairs to the component level (e.g. transistor resistor capacitor etc.) replacement. Performs appropriate computer functions and provides documentation to ensure that maintenance records parts tracking and costs may be accurately recorded. Must adhere to all company policies and standards. Ensures a safe clean and compliant work environment is maintained. Practices safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Must possess in-depth knowledge of intermediate to advanced electronic electrical principles and circuit analysis along with the ability to interpret schematic diagrams engineering drawings technical manuals mechanical drawings and charts of assigned systems.
  • Has extensive knowledge of electrical and mechanical devices such as small electrical motors and actuators mechanical and pneumatic valves and AC/DC lighting systems (Computer hardware circuit boards microchips and basic programming for our avionics section).
  • Required to trace the signal flow and understand interrelationships of circuits.
  • Possess demonstrable soldering cable crimp and harness (CCH) fabrication skills and has a good understanding of corrosion control methods and remedies.
  • Inspect components of avionics equipment for defects such as loose connections and frayed wire and for accuracy of assembly and installation.
  • Test avionics equipment under simulated or actual operating conditions to determine performance and airworthiness using test equipment such as oscilloscopes digital meters and counters and circuit analyzers.
  • Adjust repair or replace defective components based on analysis of test results following blueprints schematics handbooks and other technical documents using hand tools.
  • Calibrates installed or repaired equipment to prescribed specifications.
  • Has the ability to use common hand tools and precision measuring equipment such as micrometers depth gages flow meters pressure gauges etc.
  • Applies knowledge of the design and function of equipment.
  • Follows industry/ government specific guidelines particularly as they relate to safety health and environmental practices.
  • Assist with research and development of new repair capabilities. This will include reading and understanding new manuals
  • Assists with the maintenance of shop equipment and supplies.
  • Makes computer entries and completes various types of paperwork maintenance documents such as Service Reports and 8130-3s in accordance with FAA Regulations and company policies.

Basic Qualifications:

High School Diploma 2 Year Electronic Degree and 1-2 years of demonstrated relevant experience or HS Diploma and 3-4 years of demonstrated relevant experience. Competency in repairing electronic circuit testing troubleshooting and manufacturing at the component level.

  • Ability to follow and read work instructions prints schematics drawings etc.
  • Strong technical computer system (hardware & software) knowledge.
  • Hands-on problem-solving style.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to support several projects and engineers while balancing priorities and schedules as necessary
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate well with employees at all levels
  • Self-motivated and self-directed requiring minimal oversight to meet objectives and timelines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
